I have followed with something similar (revision 10795) for
bindings/tk-x-plat/pkgIndex.tcl.in. Untested.

Thanks to both of you for sorting out this particular embedded blanks issue.
It is great to take a solid step in the right direction.

Of course, there are quite a few more such steps ahead of us for the reason 
that Arjen articulated so well (users _will_ try embedded blanks in
directory names).  To see what those issues are, try a build with an
embedded blank somewhere in the path to the top-level directory of any/all
of the the source, build, or install trees.  I found some outstanding
"embedded blank" build issues for Ada, D, Fortran95, Java, Octave, and OCaml
that way.  (I still have some hopes to fix at least the Ada and D ones, but
I will need help on the rest.) I obviously cannot check any of those
components for run-time issues, but for the PLplot components that build
under these circumstances, the only such issue I found with
test_noninteractive and test_interactive was the -dev tk one that was just
fixed by you guys.
