I've managed to find a volunteer willing to sponsor uploads of the plplot packages to Debian.
Packages of 5.9.5 are now back in unstable which is good news. This fixes most of the outstanding bugs. Once this has stabilised I will go ahead and package up the ocaml bindings and the qt drivers as 2 new packages.
