Hi Phil:

One part of your patch didn't apply cleanly because I forgot to tell
you to use the svn trunk version of PLplot as the basis for the patch
rather than 5.9.9.  But the issue was easy to fix, and the trunk
version now has your changes (revision 12147).  This will propagate to
our next release when that time comes, but meanwhile I would recommend
you use the svn trunk version for your plotting (because of this and other
improvements we have made) if you are able to put up with the very
occasional outage (if somebody makes a mistake in a commit).
