I finally got (3) to work today by temporarily dropping everything
that is wxwidgets related in the epa_build. Post release, I will
implement a full epa_build of virtually all components of the GTK
stack of libraries which should provide the necessary consistent set
of those libraries as dependencies of wxwidgets and thus allow me to
reintroduce wxwidgets into epa_build.

The above is the remaining step on my agenda before I start the
release process. Of course, the caveat about uncertain timing for this
step still holds, but I hope to get it done in the next 24 hours. I
am pretty sure these tests will turn up a number of epa_build issues
that I will want to fix before release, but I doubt there will be many
issues turned up for the non-epa_build part of the PLplot source code.

Therefore, I think this would be a good opportunity for everybody here
to retest in the next 24 hours or so to make sure all the recent
non-epa_build changes in PLplot since you last tested have not
affected your platform. Of course, such retesting is a
"would-be-nice" so you should not concern yourself with such retesting
if you don't have time to do it on this extremely short notice.
