I wrote it when I migrated from using ArrayView on Digital's Fortran compiler to the Intel and GNU compilers. I don't know if it would be useful, but I'm willing to share with interested parties in case there are some useful concepts. One of the things I did was handle the type conversions.
Hi Jim: Thanks for that offer, but I think we will be OK. I don't think it will take too much more effort for Arjen to finalize his decision about what we are going to do, and then the tedious part will occur which is all the editing that will be required to convert from the present Fortran binding style to the new binding style for each function in our Fortran API. Of course, once we are done with the changes, we will be calling on Fortran users like you to test the updated Fortran bindings and examples to make sure there are no issues on the platforms accessible to you. By the way, to support old code we will still provide the plflt and plunicode types just like before, but it will no longer be necessary to use those types so we will remove their use from the examples as a demonstration of what new (and vastly simplified) Fortran plotting code should look like.
