Thanks for that offer, but I think we will be OK.  I don't think it
will take too much more effort for Arjen to finalize his decision
about what we are going to do, and then the tedious part will occur
which is all the editing that will be required to convert from the
present Fortran binding style to the new binding style for each
function in our Fortran API.

Of course, once we are done with the changes, we will be calling on
Fortran users like you to test the updated Fortran bindings and
examples to make sure there are no issues on the platforms accessible
to you.

By the way, to support old code we will still provide the
plflt and plunicode types just like before, but it will no
longer be necessary to use those types so we will remove
their use from the examples as a demonstration of what new
(and vastly simplified) Fortran plotting code should look like.
