I can. It will just be exceedingly slow. I don't think it quite puts the issue to rest. It _could_ be a opengl / drm related issue which is not getting triggered in my pbuilder setup, but is in your real install. At least we'll know it is not a plplot problem I suppose which is a relief. Incidentally, when I tried I discovered that the epa_build of lasi still points to a local copy on your machine not a download. This will cause epa_build to fail and is likely to confuse any non-expert users.
