I'm glad to hear that you've resumed working on PLplot!
I applied many patches to the Debian package for PLplot that should be
integrated upstream. I will try to do so in the coming weeks.
I have a question about the website plplot.org. It seems that the
domain has been taken over and now shows a page entitled "Best EMF
Meters Review and Testing Guides." Did you register the domain in the
past? Are there any plans to restore the original website?

To PLplot developers and testers:
After a six-year break I have started developing again, and I
discovered recently that a number of PLplot maintenance issues had
accumulated when I upgraded my system from Debian Buster to Trixie.
I fixed most of those in a recent commit which I pushed. The commit
message has lots of comments about the issues I ignored so I encourage
other here to try the latest git version of PLplot for themselves by
comprehensively testing it (as I documented in the commit message) on
your favorite platform, as well as fixing any of the maintenance
issues that I noticed but ignored or any additional issues you might
find.
I hope to get to one further PLplot issue soon (the news feed
no longer works at plplot.sf.net), but after that I plan to spend most
of my development effort on FreeEOS with only occasional contributions
to PLplot.
