I'm putting this on the dev list to reach a smaller audience. I just got a direct email from a relatively new user on a basic question that was not covered in the archives. He told me he was too afraid to post the question for fear of reprisals for asking a 'trivial' question on plucker-list.
I've not said a word about this so far, but the _conversations_ on mailing list etiquette have gone too far. I'm personally tired to death of them and they have been taking up far too much room in my email. When you scare new users from even posting in the first place, you've defeated the primary purpose of list. Please be a little kinder and stop the flames.
