ZLIB compression can reduce the PDB size to about 50 to 55%. This means you
can store nearly twice as much content. I think that alone is a compelling
reason.

Based on actual usage uncompressed records display somewhat faster when a
page is read for the first time. The difference is more pronounced when the
document is stored in RAM rather than on an SD card. This is of course
subjective, I don't have any hard numbers. (I'm running this on a 33Mhz
Dragonball.)
