What does -V3 show on that fetch? Which resource did the remote server
pass you a 500 for?

Is the link "true" HTML? Or some Javascriptified amalgam of an HREF?

What is a "DB archive"? The list archives? A database archive like MySQL
or PostgreSQL? Or do you mean the Palm Record Database files (pdb)? 

If the latter, just build a copy of 'unpluck', and see if that works.
You might need to port some of it to the current 1.8 API, but that
should be fairly straightforward.
