Where do the Plucker files come from? I roll my own, with a little assistance from Rafael Fetzer's PDA Converter. PDA Converter is a freeware utility that can create Plucker files, as well as zTXT files, using a variety of sources for input. It's essentially a GUI offering a friendly interface for choosing the desired options, which constructs a command line and calls the Plucker parser in the background to create the file. PDA Converter will let me assign a category when I create a Plucker document, as well as specify the PDB file name and the title as displayed in Plucker. I use it to create Plucker files of locally stored HTML content. I grab books in HTML format from Project Gutenberg and elsewhere, and Plucker is my main ebook reader. I have about 3,100 Plucker documents and counting on my device. PDA Converter is here: http://www.jakewalk.de/wiki/pmwiki.php?n=MySoftware.PdaConverter I don't use hotsync to get them on my device. I keep my Plucker library on an SD card, and I find it much easier to put the files on the card with a USB card reader once I've created them. The card reader makes the card liook like a drive to Windows, and I can use standard Windows methods to place files on it. I drop the files into the /Palm/Programs/Plucker directory (which is one of the places where Plucker looks for them.) Pop the card out of the reader and into the device, invoke Plucker, do an Update Library operation, and Voila! I also don't use Quick Install. I prefer another freeware utility called PInstall, from Envicon.de. Pilot Install is a replacement for Quick Install and Install Tool, handy for occasions when you just want to put some files on the PDA. PInstall doesn't use Hotsync (and shuts Hotsync Manager down it it's running, and re-starts it when it's finished.) It doesn't care about Hotsync IDs -- it just sends whatever is dropped on it out the selected port to the connected device. And it has handy features like automatically converting text files dropped on it to Palm "doc" files. PInstall is here: http://www.envicon.de/e/pinstall/pinstall.html > Thanks everybody.
