Hi, There appears to be a bug in both the current HotSyncing of both RunSync.exe and Plucker Desktop with regards to getting a list of HotSync names. This applies to Mac and Windows platforms, which use a users.dat file for HotSyncing. This users.dat file maintains a list of each users: (1) User's sync name. (2) User's install directory in the Palm directory. (3) A user's magic number to mark whether to install some files.
Specifically, the bug is that I think the next-user terminator examined between entries in the users.dat file needs to be 01 80 or perhaps even 00 01 80 not just 80 alone. This is because 80 alone can be within some data for a user, leading to bogus users in the list. Palm doesn't document the required information that is needed. So just need some examples of users.dat files to make sure that this correct in the real world scenario (and not just my own users.dat file) so that always Plucker syncs properly on all installations. If you would like to always have proper HotSyncing in Plucker, (and you know the location of the users.dat textfile which is in the top level of your Palm directory on your computer) please sent the users.dat file over privately via an attachment to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] It would also be helpful to include in the message what kind of handheld device it is, Desktop 0S version, and the version of Palm Desktop you are using. Best wishes and thanks, Robert _______________________________________________ plucker-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list
