Hello everyone: I *just* got Plucker, and I'm trying to use it, but I cannot seem to get any Web pages!
I'm running Windows98 (I'm soon switching to Linux, at least as soon as I can find some good, simple, step-by-step instructions for getting my USB Handspring 'sync'ing with the brand-new Linux/KDE system---any pointers *here* would also be greatly appreciated!). I have a microwave connection to the Internet through a LAN; there is no Proxy Server. When I try to create the Plucker document (either through the old-fashioned 1.13 Windows way, or using the new Desktop and 1.2beta), I get something like the following error (this text was exported using the new Desktop): Initializing Plucker spidering engine... ----------------------------------------------------------- Updating channel: Palm Programming Dev Guide... ----------------------------------------------------------- Pluckerdir is 'C:\Plucker'... Using proxy '' with authentication for user ''... ---- 0 collected, 1 to do ---- Processing http://tinfpc2.vub.ac.be/manuals/palm/de.....eOfContents.htm... Retrieval failed: 404 -- [Errno socket error] host not found. Error: Fetching the home document failed. Aborting all! ---- all 0 pages retrieved and parsed ---- Error: Fatal error while processing. Nothing written. Installing channel output to destinations... Setting channels new due date Tasks completed for all channels. Now, this looks like I'm not connecting to the Net, but I am! When I "view" the page (not using the Desktop) using "Start->Programs->Plucker->DB->View" it works just fine. What is causing this apparent connection problem? My Windows system is working just hunky-dory with my browser, e-mail client,...everything---except Plucker (well...at least as well as a Windoze system can be *expected to work! ;-) )! I've looked through all the documentation that I could find, but I have not found anything that even mentions possible problems like this; did I miss some doc.s somewhere?
