The problem with this (and this has been discussed dozens of times
over the years on the lists) is that it is very difficult to figure out the
viewport, to accurately capture the displayed area. Similar with tap, drag,
select, copy mechanisms.
What if the user changes font sizes?
What if they're using an external hack like FontHack?
What if there are inline images around the text?
What about columnar text fields? Italic fonts? Hi-Res?
It's not as simple as "freeze the screen and OCR it". Right now, all
effort is being put into making 1.2 stable and releasable. Once that is
done, other ideas will be considered. Patches and extra hands are always
welcome (but seldom offered).
