I tested installing 0.8.5 over older versions (using the Windows installer)
and it worked on my Windows 98 testing machine. Anyway, there's some
condition that I missed.

First go to the DOS-prompt, switch to the directory where you installed
JPluck, then try to start JPluck X using "java -jar jpluckx.jar". This will
let you see the stacktrace of any exceptions that occurred. Let me know
these exception.

To get you back on track you can delete the existing JPluck configuration
files. The configuration files are stored in <user home>/.jpluck.

On Windows, <user home> is located by default in c:\windows (Win98/ME) or in
"c:\Document and Settings\<user name>" (2000/XP). Alternatively, let
Explorer search for the directory ".jpluck". In the .jpluck directory you
will find two files: jpluckx.xml and devices.xml. Delete these. Now try
running JPluck X again.

If that still doesn't work you can try reinstalling. Make sure you uninstall
JPluck first.

Thanks
