Hi,
I released JPluck 0.8.6. - New: JPluck C companion utility for running automatic conversions. - New: Windows EXE wrappers for JPluck X and JPluck C. - New: Experimental support for transformation of pages using XSL stylesheets. - New: Ability to specify multiple categories. (Separate the categories with a semicolon.) - Fixed: Bugs in the file history menu, some issues with HTML parsing. JPluck C is a companion utility that lets you run an automatic conversion through the command-line. It is meant for doing scheduled plucks with Cron or the Windows Task Scheduler. The Windows EXE wrappers are really convenient. They search the Registry for a suitable Java VM and instantiate it in-process using JNI Invocation. This way you don't need a batch file or a JAR file association to launch the applications. You can still launch the application in the traditional way using "java -jar XXX" or double-clicking on the JAR. There is also experimental support for transformation of pages using XSL stylesheets. I created an example that creates a more readable version of commondreams.org, a site that uses a table-based layout. You can download the Common Dreams example separately. I hope to have more examples up soon. This is a pretty exciting feature and I will add the means to configure transformations through the GUI. Currently you must edit the JXL file manually. The format is not documented but it should be pretty easy to figure out. http://jpluck.sourceforge.net/download.html Note that the distribution has changed. If you use Windows you must download either the Windows installer (recommended) or the ZIP file. The tar.gz file does not include the Windows-specific components to make it a smaller download for Mac OS X and Linux users. For those unfamiliar with it: JPluck is Java-based toolkit for creating Plucker documents. It includes the JPluck X GUI for managing and downloading sites. JPluck is an alternative to the Python spider and Plucker Desktop. Its main advantages over the existing Plucker tools are that it downloads sites much faster and that it supports scheduling for HotSync to the SD card. JPluck requires Java 1.4 and runs under Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Linux, Mac OS X, and Solaris. (For Mac OS X you need the JDK 1.4.1 Developer Preview.) JPluck is free, open-source software released under the GNU GPL. Best wishes for the new year! :-) -Laurens --- http://jpluck.sourceforge.net/ JPluck - open-source Plucker document creation toolkit.
