<sarcasm>Only is you can find one running and ARM processor</sarcasm> ;)
Seriously though, OS5 units run a different processor (ARM) thant earlier OS's for Palm (Dragonball). OS5 has a built in Emulator layer that allows most of the older software to run w/o issue. Assuming it does not do anything exceptional (programming wise). Because of this emulator/compatability layer, older non OS5 apps run at a fraction of the speed a native application could run at. So a switch over to a native OS5 library for this stuff can have amazing improvements in speed. Depending on the direction Plucker is taking, a fully native OS5 viewer may already be considered or in the works. Maybe someone with a better feel for this can jump in and verify that. Either case, us users of the older OS/processors are stuck with what we have unless someone makes a breakthrough that would improve the speed of the Dragonball native libraries. (At which case, it would most likely speed up an ARM version by similar % too) --Wes >> I ran some preliminary tests with my Tungsten on a few documents, and >> found that the general loading time became 50% to 97% faster!! > > Will this version improve the speed of a non-OS5 Palm? > > Larry > >> -- >> Adam McDaniel >> Array.org >> Calgary, AB, Canada >> _______________________________________________ >> plucker-list mailing list >> [EMAIL PROTECTED] >> http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list > > > > _______________________________________________ > plucker-list mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list _______________________________________________ plucker-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.rubberchicken.org/mailman/listinfo/plucker-list
