Maybe someone like www.envicon.com would be willing to share some of their
secrets to make a linux version of their software.

They have two apps (pinstall and syncwizard) that under windows install a
binary that runs during hotsync to neogotiate datatransfer to the VFS card.
How this works, is way beyond my level.

        Not possible, unless you have an external card reader that can read
and write to SD cards. pilot-link does not support VFS, and can't write to
the SD cards directly.
