This is a little off topic, but I was curious and figured one of the fine programmer
types around here might be able to explain this...

I have a Compact Flash adaptor, and enjoy using the VFS capabilites to access huge
etexts on the memory card. I was moving some files around recently, and moved a
shareware game over to the flash adaptor to save memory (specifically, Monopoly),
planning to use Launcher to run it.

Here is where I get curious. Monopoly has a 10 game limit on the shareware version.
Running it on the Palm keeps the 10 limit in place and keeps track of the games
played. Moving the PRC file to the memory card does this as well (I assume data files
are kept in the Palm memory). Deleting it from the Palm and later reinstalling the
original PRC file to either the memory card or Palm also keep the limit at whatever
point it was when last run -- which brings me to my question.... what kind of wacky
data
is this program storing on my Palm that isn't being deleted when the program is
deleted? I forgot to change my batteries once, and had to reinstall everything... and
Monopoly returned to the default 10 game limit... but deleting it seems to leave the
"game counter" intact on my Palm. I was always under the impression that the
standard procedure for programs was that using the Palm OS's DELETE function removed
all associated databases.

I'm asking this not to "scam" companies and keep playing shareware (honestly), but
because I'm a bit curious and annoyed that deleting a program doesn't seem to
actually remove it from the system's memory.
