I think that I would be happy if there were at least some indication in the viewer that a page is incomplete.
For example, at the link _to_ a page that the parser split having something that said "3 parts". (I can see there'd be issues with finding all the hrefs to a page...) Or perhaps having added to the top of a split page having "1 of 3 parts". Both of these solutions would be changes in the parser rather than the viewer. Hmm. I'm not much of a programmer, but I'd feel a lot safer diddling with the parser than the viewer.
