How about patching it to add an option to turn on messages when
redirection is used?

It just does not behave like a proper UNIX app supposed to. If I do not want to see stderr I have got /dev/null redirection for that. As it is, I was sure if it was just plain hung -- no normal messages, output file still empty, what is going on?

Note, I am not even complaining about plucker refusing to send binary output to tty :) If I said cat /bin/login, that means I want to shoot myself in the foot, please do not get in my way :)
