I believe this is actually a feature (at least I saw it as such :). 
When you reach the end of the page, the little block shows where to 
continue reading from. Tapping the screen gets rid of it if you find 
it annoying, but after using it in Plucker, it's _really_ annoying to 
lose it in other readers like iSilo.
