The more ways to access the information, the easier it becomes for
users to pick their preference. I, and others on the list, prefer the main
mailing lists to be the "entry point" for all of the messages. I like to be
able to grep my mail for things I need to find.

Not switching, just providing another "view". mail-archive.com is
one, lists.rubberchicken.org is another, and nntp can be a third. The mail
will still be mail, coming through port 25 for everyone who wishes.

There is one place where news can be a benefit though, and that is
for users who don't know about the lists, don't care to subscribe, or don't
have access to them for whatever reason. Also, I can gate news for things
that aren't on the lists, like cvs commits (which I've done already on
news.plkr.org).

I'm not saying that nntp is _the_ answer, it's just one other place
to look at the information in a different way.

Here's 0.02 more, I'm with you, mail stays, and remains primary.
