Strange.. it doesn't sound as though you did anything wrong. Goto the app launcher, select the pulldown and goto 'App' > 'Info' > 'Version'. Find ZLib, what version is it? It should be 1.1.4-1. If you don't have ZLib then it probably got lost in the hotsync and never made it up to your device. If you do see 1.1.4-1, try installing the SysZLib.prc that came with plucker-desktop. That one doesn't contain specific support for OS5, but will work under it.
