Before you read on, please note that *ANY* snapshot build is to be
treated as unstable code. Snapshot builds are guaranteed to do exactly
nothing, and may work.. or may not, but your feedback is useful, as long as
you provide useful, accurate, detailed feedback.
DO NOT SKIP THIS SECTION:
Any bugs or issues you find in snapshot builds should be reported,
but there are some guidelines to reporting bugs that must be followed first.
- ANY bugs on an unreleased version of Plucker MUST be reported with
the Product Version of 'cvs (snapshot/unreleased code)' in the
bugtracker. You'll see it when you log in and report a bug.
- When reporting bugs found in an unreleased snapshot of Plucker,
please use the bugtracker FIRST, not the mailing lists. If the bug
requires much more detail, feel free to bring it up on the
development (not general) list, and please reference your bug
report number when discussing it on the lists.
- Search the existing bugs in the bugtracker for others who may have
reported similar bugs that you may have found. Duplicate bug
reports are very difficult to track down and merge, and having to
follow multiple reporting the same bug is time-consuming.
- If you have additional information on a bug that someone else has
reported and YOU are seeing, add your insight to the bugnote for
the EXISTING bug. Do not file a new bug report for an existing
bug.
- Not every bug found can be reproduced as easily as you may be able
to, do LOTS of detail is expected in the bug reports. This
includes your desktop OS, version, version of Plucker installed,
tools used, versions of those tools, and the parameters you used
to create the content. If necessary, attaching the "buggy" content
(NOT the viewer) to the bug report can help.
If you have any questions about "Bug Ettiquette", feel free to ask
me directly or on this list.
On to the gist.. I've created a process that will make hourly
snapshot builds (assuming the code in cvs actually builds) of the viewer.
You can find these at the following link:
http://www.plkr.org/index.plkr?a=snaps
Please do not link to these snapshots directly, bandwidth is already
tightly constrained as it is (we've served 341,714,426,123 bytes of Plucker
downloads, not including cvs checkouts and snapshots since 9/Feb/2003), so
please be considerate of the bandwidth usage.
If there's anything I can do, or make easier, let me know.
d.
