http://www.plkr.org/a-vs-p.html has some comparisons
between the two (and also iSilo). Note that plucker
is about to release 1.6, so "in CVS" is either already
true, or true next week.

The main things you will miss are cookies and forms.
For the NY Times in particular, you can skip the
auth form if you have a cookie, and JPluck lets
you use a cookie that was originally set in your
web browser.

The default python version can not (yet) handle
cookies, but it can sort of handle forms as the
first page, if you know in advance what you want
to send.

Forms that you intend to fill out on the palm
pilot, and then sync back - plucker cannot do
this yet, and probably not for at least several
months.

If you want to test for yourself, you can do that
with the HandSpring and Desktop 2.6.3. As
Dave P. pointed out, you can usually tell by the
size whether it worked (anything over 2K is
probably real). The viewer itself is much smaller
than AvantGo, and you can install individual
channels just like you would install a new
application (not even needing the desktop), to
see if you like it. (The conduit makes things
easier, but you don't need it for plucker.)
