It exists in the download resource heirarchy, but isn't linked
from anywhere on our main site. I see hits in the logs coming straight for
the download of the 1.4 stuff, so I assume it comes from either links in
online forums or other places.
Moving it to a "historical" section (in the downloads heirarchy)
would just cause a bunch of 404's, and those who are receiving the link as
a direct link in email or a forum, would probably assume the project was
dead or something. We definately don't want to give them that impression.
The website always advertises the latest release in the download
section. The News articles, however, do contain links to the previous
releases (i.e. a release announcement), and I don't think we should move
those away. If a user clicks past the latest release announcement and
wants to download 1.4.x and use that instead (and many do, for size or
other customization concerns), they should know they're not getting the
latest version available.
