In fact, it is is dark; I'd not known about those .prc's -- Thanks very much to
you and Marcelo for your insightful and fast responses. After installing those
two files, everything works as described. It's very nice to be using the whole
screen, AT LAST!

If it's dark, then you most likely did not install the two prc files
required for any DIA support by third party vendors. They are
AppSlipRotate.prc and StatusBarLib.prc. Yiou can get them here:

If for some reason it is lit up and toggle visibly when you tap it, then
you have an issue beyond my ability. :/
