Wednesday, February 2, 2005, 08:03 Dear Plucker users,
Recently I completely re-installed Windows, and now I've re-installed JPluck. To my surprise, it seems that the version of JPluck X I have just installed (2.1.6b) is newer than the one I was using before (2.??). My old JXL opens fine, everything is nicely configured just as before, conduit OK... but when I try to convert any documents (through JPluck or through the HotSync), JPluck opens the convert dialog, shows a "Retrieving..." message, all documents are displayed as "Pending...", but nothing ever happens. JPluck doesn't freeze - it responds to the Cancel request. I remembered reading something about newer JXL versions and having to convert them to the new format. But JPluck's documentation is no longer available, so I had to find my way without it. I eventually figured out the new name for converting JXL to PDB, and also the CONVERTJXL21.JAR file. I tried converting my old JXL with this program, and got the following output: > Reading C:\Arquivos de programas\JPluck 2\jxl\michael.jxl > Warning: validation was turned on but an org.xml.sax.ErrorHandler was not > set, which is probably not what is desired. Parser will use a default > ErrorHandler to print the first 10 errors. Please call > the 'setErrorHandler' method to fix this. > Error: URI=file:C:/Arquivos%20de%20programas/JPluck%202/jxl/michael.jxl > Line=3: > Document root element "jxl", must match DOCTYPE root "null". > Error: URI=file:C:/Arquivos%20de%20programas/JPluck%202/jxl/michael.jxl > Line=3: > Document is invalid: no grammar found. > Converting to JXL 2.1 > Writing C:\Arquivos de programas\JPluck 2\new.jxl > Done! So I have a problem, but with no documentation available, I'm a bit lost. Is the old JPluck documentation available anywhere? I have an older version of JPluck (2.0.2), and I've just downloaded Sunrise, but couldn't find anything about Opusculus at www.opusculus.org. Should I go back to JPluck 2.0.2, fix 2.1.6b problem, go to Sunrise, skip to Opusculus...? Any suggestion to help me avoid wasting time. Thanks, Michael A.
