For linux there is also a command line tool "archmage" - http://archmage.sf.net/ - which will do the job.

    There is a free tool available at http://www.keyworks.net/keytools.htm .

    You can use this to decompile any .chm file into the component .html
    files. There should be an html file that links to the others. You
    can then pluck that.
