Monday, May 16, 2005, 16:34 Dear [EMAIL PROTECTED],
Regarding your message dated 03/05/05 23:00, subject "plucker-list digest, Vol 1 #1000 - 12 msgs", plrro> My wife has a Palm m125. Everytime she switches her batteries plrro> all her data on the palm is lost... Sorry for the delay. That's an old know problem with the m100/105/125 models. It's the capacitor, which is of poor quality. After a few months it oxides (did I spell this right?) and stops working. My experience with Palm One here in Brazil is not good. They attend you well, but don't solve the problem. I had my 105 sent to them a few years ago, and all they did was put in... another low quality capacitor! Two months and it was dead again. I contacted Palm in the US and here, and nothing solved. I believe they know it's a manufacturing problem, but just ignored it/didn't admit it, to avoid a massive recall. Anyway, I had my capacitor changed for a good one for less than US$10 (not at Palm, but at a local Palm repair place here (www.microboards.com.br, I think). Now my Palm can run for five minutes without batteries (and if I can't change them in five minutes, then I need a doctor, not a better capacitor). Although you're better off getting a newer model, I keep my 105 because it is very rugged, and can go one month without seeing a power socket or batteries. Ideal for harsh environments, where I think one of these newer models wouldn't do very well. And with 8Mb, I still get LOTS of Plucker documents on it. Regards, Michael A.
