You got it the day after because you have chosen to only get the digest which by definition cannot be assembled until each day is over. Otherwise you would have gotten it before the meeting.
That said, you are still correct in that the announcement should be made at the very least a day BEFORE the meeting! Remove all addresses from the message body before sending a Forwarded message. This can prevent spy programs capturing addresses from the recipient list and message body.
