Your going to the right place, unless you have misspelled administrator or you have your site at http://localhost/joomla/, in that case you will have to go to http://localhost/joomla/administrator

why oh why is everything a hastle for me? even right from the start? I
finally got joomla installed and I'm following the manual (thanks for
pointing me in the right direction) from the begining and it tells me:

First, in order to build your web site you will have to log into the
administrator area. This can be achieved by opening the corresponding
URL in your web browser:

Replace /yourdomainname.com <http://yourdomainname.com>/ with your
actual Joomla URL.

And I think, 'cool, this is just what I needed!' so I type in:

But get the dreaded, NOT FOUND, page. I'm sure me error is simple. What
am I doing wrong?

             Hi,

I am brand new to the list @ PLUG, and just want to say
        that Joomla
was by far the most user friendly CMS that I have played with
to-date. I put this site together using it here

relies on a old version of GTK that is no
            longer
                         available. The
last news for the project were in 2010, so
            it looks
                         like a dead
project... too bad, it was a nice piece of
            software.

That being said, what are you trying to do?
              You might
                         have better
luck with a Content Management System
            (CMSanks) for
                         what you want
doing. It can be a LOT easier to work with
            and will
                         give you a
standard style across all your pages
            without having to
                         write a
                             single line of HTML.

Have a look at Joomla, Drupal, and
            wordpress for 3 of
                         the most
popular CMSs out there. I'm personally a
            fan of
                         Joomla. It's easy
to use while still having a ton of features.
                          Wordpress is probably
the easiest to use, and also the last flexible.
                          Drupal is the most
flexible, but also the hardest to use.
