That involves actually doing something besides just sending an email. This person is totally unreasonable and doesn't want to learn or do anything else (nightmare customer). I would prefer that they did it that way, and have even offered up that solution, but they won't hear anything of it.

A solution that automatically detached any images and then replaced them with links would be acceptable too, but unfortunately if it requires even the slightest bit of effort they don't even try it.

I'm guessing that in the end I'm going to have to fire this particular customer in order to save my sanity and wallet.

What about having them send it as HTML with image links and storing the
images on a server, then they could track how many people are actually
reading them, and that would cut down on the size.

I've got a customer that likes to send out newsletters with images
in them, but they are under the opinion that they are too stupid to
learn anything new on the computer and are stubborn to the point
that they won't even attempt to learn something as basic and easy as
resizing an image. (Which is particularly frustrating for me
because it would help them in their profession too... arg!)

So, in order to keep them from sending out thousands of 5+ meg
emails a couple of times a month, I would like to put a filter in
place that will pull the images out of their message, resize them
and put them back before sending them off to the mailing list.

I can see all the pieces of the puzzle out there, but I would prefer
to not reinvent the wheel if I don't have to.

Does anyone know of something out there that can do what I need?
