Thanks for taking a look. Some time in the distant future I have the
goal of loading ISPConfig into a VM on my local net to see if I like it.
I'm thinking it might be educational in that I can examine the code and
database.

I've never really used ISPconfig however just looking at the website
it looks like SquirrelMail is an external plugin for it, not something
that's built-in. Even the link on the add-ons page is broken for it.

Thanks Ryan,
I wonder why ISPConfig is using SquirrelMail? I recall being very
fond
of SquirrelMail . Not sure why. I need to do some discovery so I
can
figure out why.
Thanks!!

It looks like it got updated in 2021 for PHP 8 support, but it's a
"snapshot" release; the latest stable is still from 2011, which is
still super old especially with web software.
There are plenty of other newer, better, and maintained webmail
software, even if you're looking for something you can just chuck
onto
a PHP host. Roundcube [1], for instance, is a very capable modern
webmail client that just needs to be plopped onto a PHP host, with
the
latest release being in September, 4 months ago.

using it or considering using it.
Ryan,
Interesting point. ChatGPT say it is no longer supported. The
website
shows something is taking place. Says it is compatible with PHP
8.3....
ISPConfig is using it.
I think this is reason to dig a bit deeper.
Thanks!!

Hi,
Around 2006 or 2007 I had a business website hosted at GoDaddy.
I
used
the cheapest web hosting. I think it was around $3.00/mo. I
exclusively
used the GoDaddy webmail which I thought was really good.
AI tells me GoDaddy was using SquirrelMail at the time, I
think
it
was
highly modified by GoDaddy.
Does anyone know if GoDaddy was using SquirrelMail 18-20 years
ago?
Thanks!!
Keith
