I had read good things about tailscale and had watched a few YT videos. I decided to take the plunge and get the 'driver's seat' experience. I have installed 'tailscale' on a couple of router devices (OpenWrt native) at a couple of places, to access them over the WAN from my home desktop. I am having a blast using it!
The tailscale <https://tailscale.com/blog/how-tailscale-works> team has done an amazing job of creating a truly mesh VPN possible using the underlying 'wireguard' protocol. Watch this for a quick introduction to it. https://youtu.be/i-MENilfZRM?si=DDnDB0F92WkIWaCp IMO, if you ever have to access a remote device for tech support, help family and friends, or access your 'home' network; then look no further than tailscale. If you understand VPNs and the basics of IP routing then you should be up and running in less than an hour for a basic SSH remote access! The client is available for Windows, MacOS, Linux, *BSD, iOS, Android, ... The base plan is free for upto 100 devices and 3 users. That's plenty for hobbyists and solo IT consultants. PS - I have no affiliation (financial or otherwise) with Tailscale Njoy! -- Arun Khan
