I dunno about that.  Happens I watched a video on BeOS this morning about
how that OS in its day did an AWESOME job with multitasking even high
bandwidth video and audo in multiple windows and on some pretty low end
hardware.  It was built from the ground up to do that and using pre-emptive
interrupts and (I forget the term) multithreading.  It was VERY impressive.
Of course, M$ did not build it and it did not need to be backward compatible
with anything.
