Why not take advantage of the best of both worlds... screen inside of tiled xterms! A co-worker of mine runs ratpoison (ultra-minimalist window manager) on his three 20" monitor setup. Each monitor has one large xterm that is showing one "window" of screen (which is setup with, I believe, 20 windows). Oh, and his key mapping is set to dvorak.
