From outside the firewall I can telnet to port 25 using the IP address
but not using the DNS. (Connecting To mail.conerstonehome.com...Could
not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed)
I believe you work at cornerstone, not conerstone :).
$ host cornerstonehome.com
cornerstonehome.com has address 12.37.8.70
cornerstonehome.com mail is handled by 10 server92.appriver.com.
cornerstonehome.com mail is handled by 20 server93.appriver.com.
$ host mail.cornerstonehome.com
mail.cornerstonehome.com has address 66.193.205.166
$ telnet mail.cornerstonehome.com 25
Trying 66.193.205.166...
