Apparently the only downloads that count are the web downloads. The FTP site isn't keeping track.
I imagine that the count isn't going to properly measure Linux downloads since quite a few people will get it via 'yum', 'apt' or 'zypper'. For myself, I downloaded the tarball to help them out for the record but I installed it via 'zypper'.
