I'm having an intermittent problem mounting a usb thumb drive in Ubuntu Hardy. It usually automounts but sometimes refuses. Issuing a mount command results in "special device /dev/sdb1 doesn't exist" (paraphrased from memory-mine). It will mount if I reboot with the drive attached but this is a lousy solution. Docs and searching turned up nothing I can use.
