trying a test here folks. I moved Mozilla t-bird from windows (soon to be decommissioned) to mac OS X. the decommissioned windows box will be converted to a Linux platform for file shares and network backup. transplating the profiles was (to say the least) remarkably easy (and will even work with linux as well).
