There are essentially 2 ways to accomplish this: 1.- The BSD way 2.- The System-V way.
If you have a directory /etc/init.d and/or /etc/rcd./init.d chances are you have a System-V in front of you (most likely, unless you are running some BSD flavor or Slackware) For a System-V fix all you need is: "A symlink pointing to your daemon start-up script in every level you want it running" The above is a fairly dense statement, but if you: ln -s ../init.d/ssh /etc/rc3.d/S16ssh (adjust for your path) It will fire up SSH on init 3.
