Hi, Your initial spec was no DB back-end. I came across a PHP script that accomplishes just that if you want it. But IMO don't do it that way.
It's much better to use a gallery with a DB. A DB would seem like extra-baggage at first blush. But a DB simplifies the code immensely and you can't beat that!
