I misstated, I did look at the menu, just not that part of the menu.
I'm using 3.1.7 to manage 7 email accounts. Until yesterday, it has been great! I started using Thunderbird 2 or 3 years ago. I have often received emails with attached zip files and had no problem with them. I've no idea why you might have had the problem but I would look elsewhere. Ask the sender if he really did attach the zip file.
