whenever i try to update (ubuntu 10.04 lts) i get this message :

503 Service Temporarily Unavailable
Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.
and my network printer intermittently stops working as well.
are these two problems related, and should i attempt to fix the first
one, if so, how do i do that?
