Head over to Fry's. They have USB 2 and 3 add on cards. USB 3 is backwards compatible with USB 2.

One more thing.... I don't think I have USB 2.0

thanks, JD. Do you know the terms I need to enter into google to
find what I'm looking for? What I want is an external housing for
a single hard disk drive (maybe two) in which it is possible to
swap out drives w/o unscrewing things. Maybe I would be better off
    getting a standard EHD?

Some OS's don't boot well from an external drive but Linux
        does just fine.

I was just looking at my startup devices menu and the
first in line is 'Removable devices.' Does an external
hard drive not count for that?

hmmmm.... I just went into office max (the best thing
we have for a computer store in cottonwood) and the
computer guy there said that you can't boot off of an
External hard Drive. Well, another option I have (if
that is true), is to copy the live CD onto the ED then
to boot off of a flash drive and on the FD tell it
the information is on the ED. I know this is possible
because I had a linux friend doing something similar
to this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

I'm doing my research to find one of these online
and I am unsure of the search terms. What exactly
should I enter to find one in which I can insert
and remove standard desktop hard drives? Would it
                    be 5.25" enclosure or 3.5"?

As you all know my hard drive is no more and
all of my spares are kaput as well. I was
thinking that instead of an internal hard
drive I would get an external one. Then, I
could always have my computer with me:!) I
have a NetVista computer. Do any of you know
if I will have a problem booting from an
external hard drive? When I initialy boot and
press F-12 it goes into boot media order and
says that removable media is in the boot order
so I suppose it's all good. What do you think?
