Could you provide some details as in what errors you got?

That is really surprising cos I have an 845 on my notebook and that runs 
Slackware without a hitch.

You have a valid point here. How about I drop over to your place sometime this 
week;) I am off for the week, and I guess I could assist you with setting up 
Linux in relatively trouble free fashion. All you would need to do, is set up 
your partitions in advance and call me during a weekday, cuz during the 
weekend I expect to be OOT.
