hi,
i had the same problem....PC tel HSP56 micromodem is not detected by
Fedora Core.
You can download the driver from

http://www.geocities.com/vyakti2003

Follow the readme instructions included in the tar file and it will
work fine(you should be logged in as root)

after you install the driver give the following command
$ wvdialconf create
and then
$ lsmod 
and check whether pctel and ptserial are in the list..
