Universal Network Machines (UNM) is a three year old Silicon Valley
pre-IPO startup developing a hardware/software solution for
accelerating enterprise data manipulation. Founded by a successful,
repeat entrepreneur, Govind Kizhepat, UNM has been funded by blue-chip
Silicon Valley venture capital firms and has development centres in
Silicon Valley and Pune.
Positions
We are looking for kernel/system software engineers and validation engineers
at our development centre in Pune. An ideal candidate is a self-starter,
hard working, motivated engineer, enthusiastic about tackling technical
challenges. The candidate should be a computer science or engineering graduate
from a reputed institute such as PICT, COEP, IITs, RECs.

System Software Engineers (3 positions)
Primary Responsibilities
* Design functional modules as per requirements
* Development and efficient implementation and debugging of modules
using appropriate algorithms
* Documentation of modules
Qualifications
* 2 to 10 years of experience in kernel/system software development
* Experienced in software development in C or C++ on the Linux
platform
* Experienced in TCP/IP internals and programming
* Understanding of Linux internals
* Understanding of HTTP protocol, proxy servers, file systems such
as ext3, NFS or NTFS is a strong plus
* Understanding of high performance caching is a plus
Validation Engineers (2 positions)
The candidates will play a crucial role in customer advocacy and
molding the product design and product behavior to make it appealing
to the customer. This is a high visibility function in the company.
Primary Responsibilities
* Development of tools and techniques using C, Perl, Assembly and
Shell scripts on Linux platform for validating hardware and
software
* Design of test plans and test suites
* Detailed documentation of techniques discovered
Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years experience in system software validation
* Prior experience in product validation is a must
* Experience in developing tools in C, Perl, Assembly and Shell on
Linux platform
* Understanding of HTTP, file systems such as ext3, NFS or NTFS is a
plus
* Enthusiastic about making an impact on product quality and thus
contributing to the success of the company
